Jeny Knight

 Executive Director of Independent and Assisted Living 

Jeny Knight graduated Magna Cum Laude from Houston Baptist University with double majors in Marketing and Business Management. She is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) from The University of Texas Center on Aging and is also a Certified Assisted Living Administrator (CALA) from Southwest Texas State University. She also is a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP).  She has a passion for serving senior adults with over thirty years of industry experience to her credit. Jeny has served in the capacity of Executive Director at The Abbey since January 2005 and is proud to say The Abbey has tenured staff with nearly twenty years of service. For the past eight years, her husband John has resided in The Abbey’s Assisted Living community after being hit head-on by a drunk driver forty-two years ago; the night before their wedding.  They have a son and a daughter and one grandson.  She loves her job and looks forward to coming to work every day!!

Christina Selesky

 Resident Services Director

Christina joined The Abbey in 2018 and brings over 14 years experience in the retirement industry.  Her last position was at Watercrest Sugar Land as their Director of Marketing and Leasing.  Christina also worked at Sweetwater Country Club for over14 years, starting out as a Fitness/Yoga Instructor and then also working in the Accounting Department for 5 years.  She and her husband Joe have been married for over 33 years, and have 3 children and 5 grandchildren.  Christina loves working in this industry because every day is different.  She loves being able to take care of residents and staff.  “There is never a dull moment working at a retirement community!  The days fly by!  Residents are always so appreciative, anytime you’re able to solve an issue or problem.  But you also get to help coordinate and share holiday/birthdays, etc. as well as be a part of their day to day lives.”

Maria Alvarado

Marketing Director

Maria Alvarado joined The Abbey in March 2019. Maria worked for the Houston Chronicle in sales and advertising for over 40 years.  She worked as the rep for The Abbey during the first two years when it opened and loved everything The Abbey offered to the residents.   Maria brings years of experience in marketing, specifically digital.  She started her degree at the University of Houston and finished with the University of Phoenix in 2011 with a degree in Business Administration.

Maria was a Planning Commissioner for the City of Stafford from 1995 to 2005.  She moved to Cinco Ranch in Katy in 2005 and continues to be involved in community safety efforts with Fort Bend and Harris County law enforcement. Maria loves traveling, especially to Edinburgh, Scotland, where she has had a pen pal for over 50 years. She also spends time building her faith and her goal is to be more involved in global efforts with missions.

Irina Wardrip

Social Director

Our newest member to our Independent Living community is our Social Director, Irina Wardrip.  Irina comes with ten years of experience in Senior Healthcare, Activities and Development at MorningStar Senior Living in Denver, Colorado and for most recently, at Village on the Park Steeplechase in Houston, Texas. She moved to Houston with her husband and is still acclimating to the humidity.

Irina loves to organize and host special events, fundraisers and plan meaningful activities to engage seniors. Plans for the coming year include an Art Show featuring The Abbey at Westminster Plaza’s residents’ collectables.  She has organized a  dog show, “Pawject Runway,” Octoberfest, jewelry making, water color classes, published an Abbey Cookbook, coordinated a Vow Renewal Ceremony and other exciting events which are worthy of creating new and fun memories.

Gerardo Parra

Maintenance Director

Gerardo Parra is a Maintenance professional with over 14 years of experience supporting luxury retirement and family residential communities.  His experience includes areas of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, painting, appliance maintenance, pool service and hardware installation.  Gerardo ensures proper upkeep, per The Abbey’s community standards, of every apartment and also oversees the property grounds.

Gerardo is a great fit for The Abbey because of his knowledge in prioritizing requests, multitasking, making cost effective decisions without affecting quality and ensuring timely delivery of work orders, while keeping the safety and living experience of residents as top priority.

We appreciate his skills and are happy he joined our exceptional team at The Abbey at Westminster Plaza.

Imrai Sanvicente

Executive Chef

Imrai Sanvicente graduated from the Superior School of Tourism with a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management and a minor in Culinary Arts. Imrai holds a stellar record of 26 years of experience in the restaurant industry. Chef Sanvicente’s career started as an apprentice at five diamond-five star hotels in Mexico City, directed mostly by European chefs.

Shortly after graduation in the year 2000 he decided to move to the United States where he worked at Arcodoro for Efisio Farris, in the Galleria area. During that time he met his mentor, Chef Joe Mannke (owner/Chef for Rotisserie for Beef and Bird and Bistro Le Cep) Imrai served as the Executive Chef for 13 years at Bistro Le Cep. Chef Imrai’s work has been displayed in local TV segments, newspapers and magazines. Through his culinary cuisine Imrai has delighted diners all over Houston. He brings his expertise and passion to The Abbey residents where he will always greet you with delicious creations and a warm smile. Imrai is a father to an amazing son and a precious daughter.

Kathi Hill

Health and Wellness Director

Kathi Hill became part of the Abbey family in the Activities department in 2016 and in January, 2019, she was promoted to Health and Fitness Director. Kathi has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from Lamar University. She spent 36 years in the Education field before bringing her bright smile and endless energy into the lives of our seniors! She loves to use sign language, especially with patriotic songs and will spontaneously break into some dance moves for the residents at a moment’s notice! She teaches water aerobics in our indoor heated pool, line dancing, chair yoga and many more fun classes to promote a sense of well-being, She has two children and 5 grandchildren who are her whole world. She and her husband, Glen, have been married for 46 years and are looking forward to the next 46! Kathi is beyond excited to be able to bring quality fitness and wellness programs to the residents of The Abbey in order to improve their quality of life and extend their longevity!
