Executive Director of Independent and Assisted Living
Jeny Knight graduated Magna Cum Laude from Houston Baptist University with double majors in Marketing and Business Management. She is a Licensed Nursing Facility Administrator (LNFA) from The University of Texas Center on Aging and is also a Certified Assisted Living Administrator (CALA) from Southwest Texas State University. She has a passion for serving senior adults with over twenty-six years of industry experience to her credit. Jeny has served in the capacity of Executive Director at The Abbey since January, 2005 and has never missed a day of work. She loves her job and looks forward to coming to work every day!!
Maria Alvarado joined The Abbey in March 2019. Maria worked for the Houston Chronicle in sales and advertising for over 40 years. She worked as the rep for The Abbey during the first two years when it opened and loved everything The Abbey offered to the residents. Maria brings years of experience in marketing, specifically digital. Maria started her degree at the University of Houston and finished with the University of Phoenix in 2011 with a degree in Business Administration.
Maria was a Planning Commissioner for the City of Stafford from 1995 to 2005. She moved to Cinco Ranch in Katy in 2005 and continues to be involved in community safety efforts with Fort Bend and Harris County law enforcement . Maria loves traveling, especially to Edinburgh, Scotland, where she has had a pen pal for over 50 years. She also spends time building her faith and her goal is to be more involved in global efforts with missions.
Our newest member to our Independent Living community is Irina Wardrip, our Social Director. Irina comes with ten years of experience in Senior Healthcare, Activities and Development at MorningStar Senior Living and for about a year at Village on the Park Steeplechase in Denver, Colorado. She moved to Houston with her husband and is still acclimating to the humidity.
Irina loves to organize and host special events, fundraisers and plan meaningful activities to engage seniors. Plans for the coming year include an Art Show to include The Abbey at Westminster Plaza’s resident’s collection. She has planned the dog show, “Pawject Runway”, Octoberfest, jewelry making, water color classes and other events this year which are creating new and fun memories
Manuel joined The Abbey in April, 2008 after serving as the Maintenance Supervisor for another retirement community for 23 years. Our residents enjoy Manuel’s BBQ-ing and DJ-ing for them. Manuel has three sons and two daughters that he is extremely proud of. He enjoys playing golf, barbequing, and music. He has also played bass guitar for 36 years and the last 21 years have been with his own band. Manuel is excited to be on board with The Abbey and is looking to be here 23 years, too.
Imrai Sanvicente graduated from the Superior School of Tourism with a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management and a minor in Culinary Arts. Imrai holds a stellar record of 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry and he is the newest addition to the Abbey’s team. Chef Sanvicente’s career started as an apprentice at five diamond-five star hotels in Mexico City, directed mostly by European chefs. Shortly after graduation in the year 2000 he decided to move to the United States where he worked at Arcodoro for Efisio Farris, in the Galleria Area. During that time he met his mentor, Chef Joe Mannke (also Rotisserie for Beef and Bird). Imrai learned about the opportunity to open Bistro Le Cep, where he served as the Executive Chef for the past 13 years. Imrai’s work has been displayed in local TV segments, newspapers and magazines. Through his cuisine Imrai has delighted diners all over Houston and now he brings his expertise and passion to The Abbey residents for years to come where he will always greet you with delicious creations and a warm smile. Imrai and his beautiful wife have an amazing son and a precious daughter.
Health and Wellness Director
Kathi Hill became part of the Abbey family in 2016 as an Health and Wellness Director. In January, 2019, she became the Health and Fitness Director for the Abbey. Kathi has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from Lamar University. She spent 36 years in the Education field before bringing her bright smile and endless energy into the lives of our seniors! She loves to sign, especially patriotic songs, and will spontaneously break into some dance moves for the residents at a moment’s notice! She has two children and 5 grandchildren who are her whole world. She and her husband, Glen, have been married for 46 years and are looking forward to the next 46! Kathi is beyond excited to be able to bring quality fitness/wellness programs to the residents of the Abbey in order to improve their quality of life and extend their longevity!
